Renae’s D4D Course
Welcome to Ed Health Australia’s Diabetes 4 Disability (D4D) online course. The course includes Modules with lessons to teach you the information that will help you understand what you need to do to support Renae with her diabetes care. You are also taught to check Renae’s glucose level. Once you pass the quizzes, you will be booked in to do an Online Skills Check with a Credentialled Diabetes Educator. This will give you the confidence you can use the meter correctly for accurate and safe monitoring of her glucose levels.
Modules and Lessons
Module 1: Diabetes support

This is longest Module with 6 lessons. There is a quiz at the end of each lesson. They help you to learn the information in the lessons and also prepare for the end of Module 1 quiz, which you do when you have finished all six lessons. The Module covers what is diabetes, types,
lifestyle management (diet, exercise, stress management), medication
management, diabetes linked health problems and the diabetes health team. Even though it is a long Module, you can have a break in-between lessons.
It takes around 3-4 hours to do this Module
Module 2: Glucose Monitoring

This module has three lessons covering glucose monitoring and the use of a glucose meter. You are taught how to record an accurate glucose level, what it means and what you need to do in response to that number to maintain glucose levels in a safe range. Hypoglycaemia (low glucose level) management is covered in the third lesson. This Module has a quiz at the end of lesson 2 on the first two lessons. Then there is a quiz on Hypoglycaemia at the end of the Lesson 3.
It takes around 2 hours to do this Module.
Online Skills Check
Once you finish the online course, ask your Group Leader to book you for the Online Skills Check. A Credentialled Diabetes Educator will go over how to use the blood glucose meter and check you are using the equipment correctly.
